What verizon gateway do you have?
Same with router and extender? You didn't put models for any of these devices.
one way to do it is to connect the router to the verizon gateway and put the netgear router in access point mode.

Some big picture pieces and sequence might be helpful.
Power off both your as yet unnamed extender and router. Pick a location for your fixed wireless gateway. Power it up and get it connected so you can connect to the new gateway Wi-Fi to the internet. The Wi-Fi names and passwords came with your device. You do not want your new wireless gateway to set physically close to your router. The Wi-Fi signals will interfere. If you can get 8 to 10 feet distance and run an Ethernet cord between the wireless gateway and the router you will be better off.
Now you can power up your router and configure it for access point mode operation. Details are in the manual. Go to the Downloads section above and put in your model number.
Unless you make any Wi-Fi changes, your router Wi-Fi SSIDs and passwords should remain the same. You want them to be different than the ones with your new gateway. Test your router Wi-Fi to see if you can connect to the internet
Now power up your extender. Unless there were changes, it should connect to your old router and function the same. Test the Wi-Fi from your extender.
