WC7500

Hi   I have nine WN370 Access Points currently being controlled by a WC7500. The WC7500 has stopped working, I think it is the motherboard as the reset button doesnt work and it has lost all sight...

I might just replace my WN370's with WAX214's and forget the whole controller thing as it is a single point of failure.

While the WAX214(v2) are nice essential access points, we must understand the deployment options are limited. OK for standalone, but lack of seamless roaming if you go for WPA3-Personal (WPA3-SAE) one day - and you really have to manage each WAX214(v2) [or WAX218, WAX220, ...] on it's own. Background: For WPA3-SAE you need infrastructure (here: cloud) support, while the WPA2-PSK does allow this effort-less.

Strongly suggest to head for the Insight managed WAX6xx, like the WAX615 and WAX625 (requiring 802.3at PoE switch), or the the beefier but more port hungry WAX630 and WAX630E (requiring 802.3bt PoE switches). One thing in common: All these are easily exceeding the capabilities of a classic Gigabit Ethernet, so there might be some more investment required.

On the spec sheets, the WAX615 and the WAX625 can be 802.3af powered - at the price at some restricted performance.  But this might help towards a fast replacement of your WN370 on the existing infrastructure. I must admit, I don't have the full insight how they limit the usage to remain within the limited.

If I would be the project engineer, I would try to avoid the radios operating at full bandwidth, so no 160 MHz, only allow 20...80 MHz. I'll try to figure out for you if I can get my contacts with Netgear to this thread. JulienR

Maybe they have some short term replacement WC7500 or WC7800 at hand in an European warehouse.
