WG111v3 MAC OS X 10.6 Driver Needed
Got a Netgear WG111v3 to help me connect wirelessly due to a very weak ISP signal but having nothing but trouble trying to install the Netgear software/driver.
I've downloaded the driver for MAC OS X 10.5 but I'm getting the following error:
System extension cannot be used
The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/RTL8187BI.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.
I'm running MAC OS X 10.6.4. Does anyone know if there is an updated driver or hoe I can bypass this error message?
The install does say it has completed and my macbook reboots but the Netgear WG111v3 just isn't recognized.
Would really like to sent this question to Netgear support but that seems to be a hopeless cause. Does anyone know the support email address or how to find it on the web site?
Thanks very much

What you see is what you get
No driver is available for 10.6
You will need to deal wih support at my.Netgear.com and open the case
My suggestion is go to macsales.com or macwireless.com - mccleldNoviceThere is some good news - take a look here and scroll to the bottom:

Some clever people have made the minor modification necessary to get this working on 10.6. What's more, they've packaged it up into a .dmg.
I was having the same problems as the OP - and phoned Netgear Support to be told to return the product to the store from which I'd bought it as there was no driver now and no outlook for one in the future.
Hope that helps.

Actually there is a 10.6 driver, but strangely Netgear doesn't have it on their site. I can't seem to find the URL where I located the 10.6 driver for WG111v3, but I did previously download it & it worked great. My girlfriend's Macbook Pro has a nonfunctional airport, and I bought her a WG111v3 to replace the functionality. - jmizoguchiVirtuosohttp://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2640
