WGE101 - how to set up as wireless point via switch
Hi, tried following the manual but still struggling, so really hoping i can find some support here.
Product - Netgear WGE101
my setup:
i have a 4 port wireless router connected via WAN to my cable modem upstairs.
i have a switch connected to 1 of the ports of the router.
the switch is located downstairs.
when i use wireless devices downstairs (laptop, mobile etc) the connection is very weak.
idea:
i intended to use this netgear product to act as a wireless bridge downstairs. I want to connect it to the switch, and so for any devices i use downstairs, i connect to the Netgear, instead of the router upstairs - thereby connecting to something giving out a stronger signal.
Problem:
all the router lights are green. I can connect to the device and use its browser interface, on a wired device thats connected to the router/switch.
however i cannot see the netgear wireless bridge on any of my wireless devices, so therefore cannot connect to it.
please help? is it even possible?
as i say i was just hoping to use the device as a 2nd wireless access point, located closer to my wireless devices downstairs, and therefore better connection.
