After the NH 8000 continued to drop off, I reinstalled using the home wireless router "SSID"+"_2GEXT" and "SSID"+"_5GEXT". My question is ... which path is the best (1) using solely our Home SSID and being able to connect all devices using the single SSID or (2) having all three SSID's (networks) setup and having to tie some devices to a single SSID (those devices which are able to connect only to a single SSID and are unable to float)?
It all depends on how well it functiosn. If they're dropping off with either method, choose the one that works best for you. I've used both and end up going back to mesh/single ssid function because its more convenient for the family.
what router are you using?
What firmware is on the extender?
How frequently is it dropping off the network? And by dropping off are you getting "connected but no internet", is the wireless dying (no connection at all), or what exactly is happening? Details help

Thank you. Both methods seem to drop frequently, in some cases requiring complete reinstallation. Our wireless router is an AT&T router. Firmware is up to date at V2.4.24.1. When the extender drops off App shows message: "Issues connecting with [SSID name], Swithch WiFi networks or Troubleshoot below, Go to Settings > WiFi and join your router's WiFi network ..."
Of course when we check for connection to primary SSID (using cell phone and single SSID setup) the cell phone shows a connection to the SSID. All lights may or may not be on at the extender at any given time. The extender is connected to a dedicated (non-switchable) power source.

According to the NetGear Status website for our IP address (using Windows) for the Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band Mesh Extender.
Yes, a receptacle without a switch.
What i've just noticed this morning (between switching between single SSID and 3 separate methods) is that the iPhone App will give me the aforementioned error (non-connected) meesage and when i log in via Chrome for windows http://SSID/login.html (where SSID = our IP Address) the extender appears to be connected, though with no devices showing connection. Is this indicative of a possible bug in the iPhone APP?
