WHich method is best?
We just purchased the Nighthawk X6S 8000 and have constant trouble with the extender just dropping off. Originally I used the same SSID as our existing home wireless router. After the NH 8000 continu...

Thank you. Both methods seem to drop frequently, in some cases requiring complete reinstallation. Our wireless router is an AT&T router. Firmware is up to date at V2.4.24.1. When the extender drops off App shows message: "Issues connecting with [SSID name], Swithch WiFi networks or Troubleshoot below, Go to Settings > WiFi and join your router's WiFi network ..."
Of course when we check for connection to primary SSID (using cell phone and single SSID setup) the cell phone shows a connection to the SSID. All lights may or may not be on at the extender at any given time. The extender is connected to a dedicated (non-switchable) power source.

You're right the App is V2.4.24.1. Our

According to the NetGear Status website for our IP address (using Windows) for the Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band Mesh Extender.
Yes, a receptacle without a switch.
What i've just noticed this morning (between switching between single SSID and 3 separate methods) is that the iPhone App will give me the aforementioned error (non-connected) meesage and when i log in via Chrome for windows http://SSID/login.html (where SSID = our IP Address) the extender appears to be connected, though with no devices showing connection. Is this indicative of a possible bug in the iPhone APP?

it could be an issue of the router not having a valid ip connection for the extender. Some routers need to set extenders with a static ip address.
What router are you using?
Modem?

To answer your earlier question, our router/modem are AT&T DSL with WPS capability. The AT&T No the issue has not been resolved and I've been unable to reach customer. The only way we've been able to see the extender active is to reinstall it each time it fails. Last time it stayed active for several days.
