Try the factory reset again. Push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds.
Then I'd recommend installing via the installation wizard and not wps.
You can hardwire into the extender to do it or you can do it over wireless. I prefer wired as it tends to go smoother and be easier.

Thank you for replying
I am a total novice when it comes to stuff like this. Very surprised to get it running in the first place. Will your solution help with connecting the extender to the router??
The Ext is visable in my phone wifi settings but requires login/authorise to access, trying to login brings up a blank page with no other options. Apologies as to you it may seem very straight forward.

Apologies as to you it may seem very straight forward. That's why I prefer to hardwire into extenders for setup. If you have a pc/laptop around you can run setup on it via the ethernet connection. Then you're not relying on wireless or having to connect/reconnect during setup. If you have the option, its worth doing this route.
what router are you connecting it to?

I can take my work laptop home to try it.
Initial set up it connected absolutely no problem. I cant even load up the new extender page on anything to try.
So if i hard wire my laptop to the extender, even though it hasnt connected to the router that will work??
It is a Virgin V6 hub the router

You can try setting it up that way. It might have more luck.
I'd try the hardwired version. Especially on a different pc. Or even try a different browser on the one you're using.
but your issue also might be with the virgin hub v6. Some isp's have been pushing their own extenders. And I've found some of them don't play nice with 3rd party extenders because the isp's want to make more $ charging for their own extenders.
Not saying its the case but if nothing works during setup, its worth checking into.
