Wifi Ex5000 setup

Thanks for the response. I have watch several you tube videos about setting up the extender, many of which are more recent than the link you sent me. I did review it and found it similar to those I watched. I chuckled at the caption from someone who used it and had the same problem I have - switching to the netgear_ext doesn't work because you don't have an internet connection to proceed. My additional issue is that bringing up the net gear genie, using the IP address only takes you as far as entering info to setup an account and upon hitting submit, nothing happens. The screens to continue setup do not appear.
If I missed something, please let me know. I don't want to come across as being difficult - I welcome the help.

I just re-tried it on my Ex7300 and EAX80 and it worked fine
Thanks for the advice.
Tried resetting than using 2 separate devices (kinder and cell phone) to to try and setup the extender. Closest I got, using the IP address (250.168.1.250) was getting to the genie and logging in but couldn't get past the opening selection for genie setup or manual. Either selection did not move from that screen. Tried several times after resetting but couldn't proceed.
have you used wps?
MY router does not have a WPS button.
