It’s a NETGEAR router that we are trying to connect to. I’m not sure what other info would be needed. I’m one of the few Young people who is tech illiterate so I have no idea what the firmware is. Our breaker flipped which made the whole thing go off and once it was back on it was not working correctly. I went through the online wizard and everything was fine till it got to the connect to router bit in which it said it was unable to do for some reason or the other. All lights were green except the router button. I am fairly certain I have tried all of the troubleshooting options unless I am a total idiot and am not looking at the ones that would relate to this problem.
Router is kind of key. Its what the extender is running off. its like a telling a mechanic that your car doesn't drive and when he asks for motor specific saying, its a car. Technically you are correct but it doesn't tell us capabilities or if there's any knowns issues. Like some routers have a tendancy to revert back to stock settings with power interuptions. If thats the case, then you'll need to reinstall the router first and then go through the new extender setup. Or if its a mesh/single ssid router, its more challenging to attach extenders to if the firmware on the extender is outdated or if its an older extender.

Firmware is the coding that runs the device. The manual walks you through updating firmware and checking it. I did link to the manual and its a great resourse.
and saying "it couldn't connect to the router for some reason or another". Can YOU connect to the router? Have you logged into it to see if it was set back to factory for some reason?
here's what I'd start with.
1. The router. log into it and check your ssid (wireless name) and password. Make sure they were the same that you setup the extender with. If not, change them back.
2. then connect to the extender and go through setup.
3. Worse case scenario, factory reset both the router and the extender and start back at the beginning. If you're a bit tech illiterate, going through setup again is only going to help you understand them more, not less. If you do go this route, push and hold the reset buttons while they're powered on. You usually have to hold 7-10 seconds but it can be up to 30 seconds with some devices. The lights should chang/blink. that'll get you back to stock.
