Wifi Extender

I'm not sure if this has been asked before or not. I bought a Netgear Wifi extender and I'm having problems getting it to work. I push the WPS button on my modem/router combo but it won't stay on for long. While it's on, I'll push the WPS button on my Wifi extender but it's not turning on. I just can't figure out how to get this Wifi extender to work. I would appreciate any help with this matter.

    Have you tried setting it up using the installation wizard and not using the wps method? 

    It tends to work when wps doesn't.

        What extender are you using? 

        Have you tried a different pc/laptop? 

        Or a different web browser? 

        Have you tried running the setup hardwired into the extender? (disable wifi on whatever device you're connecting to it so it doesn't default back to the wifi connection)
