WiFi Extender
About a year ago I bought a WiFi extender and I just began to use it again after having no need for it for quite a while. While setting it up, I got a good connection to it for about a day before it w...

- lotrcsafan1989Nov 08, 2023AspirantSo sorry for the vagueness of it all! I'm not very tech savvy, but to answer a few of your questions: the firmware I downloaded is the latest one, which to my knowledge is 1.0.1.80 for the extender itself. The router is a Spectrum WiFi6 router SAX1V1K router. The signal isn't being blocked by any interference because without the extender I can get to the halfway point without losing signal but the further away I am, the less strength the signal has (obvious, I know). The guide I set it up with is the default guide that it gives me to use when I first open the box, the NetGear Setup Wizard at the extender IP address. The warning it gives me says that anything I connect to will not be secure, and thus does not act like I'm actually connected because it says my certificate has expired.

A screensnip of the warning might help better. Sorry. Not sure where/how you're seeing this.
I do know that router struggles with extenders as it was designed for spectrum to work with their "pods"
- lotrcsafan1989Nov 09, 2023AspirantIt won't allow me to post a screenshot, but I can say that I factory reset it yesterday (November 8th, 2023) and it allowed me to connect for a while before I had to go to work. This morning when I got home, it said it wouldn't let me connect after being on the device for over 4 hours. Everything was up to date, the device ran the latest firmware, everything worked. The best thing I guess I can do is paste what the actual warning notice said.<br><br>"The network that you’re trying to join has security issues.<br>For example, the login page might not belong to the organisation shown.<br>Additionally, it is not possible to bypass this error because the device is currently running a VPN."<br><br>Security warning<br>SSL_IDMISMATCH<br>Page info<br>data ;text/html,<br>Address:<br><a href="<a href="https://www.my wifi ext. net/" target="_blank">https://www.my wifi ext. net/</a>" target="_blank"><a href="https://www" target="_blank">https://www</a>. my wifi ext.net/</a><br>The name of the site doesn't match the name on the<br>certificate.<br>Issued to:<br>Common name:<br><a href="<a href="http://www.routerlogin.net" target="_blank">http://www.routerlogin.net</a>" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.routerlogin.net" target="_blank">www.routerlogin.net</a></a><br>Organization:<br>Netgear<br>Organizational unit:<br>Home Consumer Products<br>Serial number:<br>00:81:3F:01:8D:F4:E4:D3:61<br>Issued by:<br>Common name:<br><a href="<a href="http://www.routerlogin.net" target="_blank">http://www.routerlogin.net</a>" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.routerlogin.net" target="_blank">www.routerlogin.net</a></a><br>Organization:<br>Netgear<br>Organizational unit:<br>Home Consumer Products<br>Validity:<br>Issued on:<br>1 Jan 2011<br>Expires on:<br>29 Dec 2020<br>Fingerprints:<br>SHA-256 fingerprint<br>1D:F3:DA:FB:4D:22:0C:41:29:B5:7D:CO:B1:B1:5D:FE:81:<br>B4:38:70:50:7E:C7:69:5C:F0:BA:E3:A9:87:40:B6<br>SHA-1 fingerprint:<br>BA:BC:53:02:58:1F:E7:5D:ED:1E:DA:B0:CA:00:84:5B:8F:<br>77:07:5F<br><br>That's everything I've seen since setting it up.
