WiFi Range Extender is connected to router but not to device

Hello,

 

I recently bought this device and successfully installed and operated it for a week or two with no difficulty. Recently, I've had to reboot my router. I notice that the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz lights are no longer illuminated. The web assistant confirms that my extender is connected to the router (and all the blue lights apart from 2.4 and 5 GHz are illuminated and steady. I assume the problem is that for some reason my laptop / device is not connected to the extender. I have no idea why or what to do about it. I should appreciate any help anyone feels able to offer.

  • they go on and off as devices connect to those bands on the extender. 

    And between your routers wifi and the different wifi bands on the extender, it leaves a lot for devices to connect to.

    As well as the extender does band steering. Meaning it can move a device from 2.4ghz to 5ghz as needed for bandwidth/distance issues. 

    Basically trying to say you're going to have devices moving between router---extender and different bands.

    The device led lights up when a device is connected to the extender. 

    If you log into the extender, is anything connected?

    The mesh devices having roaming standards built in but its dependent on your phone/tablet/pc to roam when their own standards call for it.

      I have no idea how to log into it, nor did I realise I had to. When I first installed the extender, it worked fine. Since I sent my last message, I've gone through the setting up process several times, connecting the extender to the router. I've been able to get four blue steady lights, including 2.4 MHz, but not 5 MHz. Previously, I had four solid blue lights and the fifth (5 MHz) was blue at first, but then amber. THis morning, before rebooting the router, I had no internet at all in the area I use the extender to reach. Just checked again - all five lights are now on and I do have an internet connection. I'm sorry to set off a wild goose chase. Is it possible that there are unusual variations in the waveband / wifi signal from the router owing to heavy internet use in my neighbourhood as a result of the coronavirus emergency?
