if the signal strength were the camera is at is at 60-70%, it should be working fine.

yes, thank you for your answer. that's true you are correct, and yes it does work, i didn't say it was not working. but with the signal strength i am getting, as i said at 60 -70 % the camera is not working to it's fullest capability. it just need to be at a higher signal of about 85 -100 % for it to work at it's top, best performance. So as i was asking, if i move a range extender closer to it's location, will the signal be able to reach the device, through the wall and door, as i have asked. i thank you for your reply.

I have mulitple cameras around my home and many function fine down to 20%. Most security camera's don't use a ton of bandwidth. it just need to be at a higher signal of about 85 -100 % for it to work at it's top, best performance.---it's not going to connect at 100% unless its sitting right next to the router. Like extenerior wall/door? they do a great job of blocking wifi. And single/dual band range extenders drop throughput (speed) by 50% by the very nature of how they have to work. So the camera might have a better signal, but its not necessarily going to have faster speeds. i thank you for your reply.
What actual issue are you having with the camera? You want to know specifics without telling us what issue you're having. And just saying "sure, get an extender" is easy to say but it might not fix your issue. Or might make it worse.
yes, thank you again for your answer. i am sorry for making it sound like the issue i was having was about the camera. i was just saying. that is the device being used, in the spot of poor reception. because initially, the question was about the signal penetrating through a standard, which ever you prefer, drywall/sheetrock wall, with a closed metal door. Okay, let me try to use this approach. i live in an apartment, all on the inside, my wi-fi signal is perfect, 96-100% to all my devices, yes including my other camera's i have on the inside. but the camera i mentioned that's on the outside of my apt. door, that is on the outside of a drywall/sheetrock wall, with a closed metal door. at the signal i said before 60-70% so i was trying to simply ask if, i put an signal range extender right on the inside of this wall/door if that would improve the overall signal i would get on the device, on the outside of the door. sorry for any misunderstanding, i might have caused in asking the other question i asked. this is what i was trying to find out. thank you, i will be awaiting your reply.
About all I can say is you can try it. I can't say 100% that it'll help because if the signal in the apartment is 96-100% and right outside where the camera is, its to weak to broadcast, it tends to indicate something is blocking the reception. Extenders tend to work best when they're to far way from a signal, not when its attenuated by something in a wall.
but all you can do is try it. Buy from somewhere with a generous return policy and see if it works.
