All of my devices can continually access the WN2000RPT device and access the local network as well as the internet. However, after some time, the internet connection drops for the repeater only - I can still access the local network but not the internet.Is there a timeout or something that would cause it to lose it's connection? Seems that bouncing the repeater works, albeit temporarily.thanks.Ryan

I've done that but it didn't seem to help. I have put an old AP (WG102) on the router and am using that until NEtgear comes out with new firmware.

Yea!! This is getting annoying. I was watching the football game today and watched it cycle through the wifi lights every 5 min. Meaning it goes from green, to red, to orange and back to green. I can't figure it out. Can a mod maybe chime in here with a solution. I might return it since it hasn't been 30 days yet.

I've installed DD-WRT on this router (alternative firmware for those who don't know) and I still have a problem with internet access dropping. Usually after a day of stable connection.Specifically, the router completely freezes for about a minute at a time (completely unresponsive, even the configuration page/pings hang). Eventually it'll unfreeze and internet connectivity will resume. Until it freezes again. Usually physically rebooting the router staves off disconnection problems for about a day til it starts hanging again. And once it starts doing that, it'll continue to do it every 5 minutes or so until I physically restart it. Sometimes (but not always), soft rebooting (through the firmware) fixes the problem too. I'm guessing that netgear's firmware deals with this apparent freezing by automatically rebooting the router (which is why the lights flash for most of you when this happens).Turns out that DD-WRT developers have had trouble with this "bug" for YEARS and they still haven't figured it out, in addition to a few other Netgear routers. This leads me to believe that the problem is hardware and not software.

I have the same kind of problem. Check to see if there are duplicate ip or MAC addresses of devices connected to your router and WN2000RPT ? In my configuration, it does not seem to be a wi-fi link problem between the router and the WN2000RPT but rather some kind of conflict with the addresses the connected devices are getting. Netgear should really look into this problem and release firmware that passes on the MAC addresses properly.

agree on the need for a fix - it's basically a brick until they fix this.Is there a simple way to check? Assuming a reset of the repeater gets fresh IP's for all connected devices therefore leaving no conflicts until hours or days later when other devices come online.

Good news everyone!!

It seems to work! At least in my setup, which have NEVER had a reliable connection since i bought the device almost a year ago (and after trying every configuration possible), needing a reboot at least twice a day. Now it works pretty good.

The second link he posted is still online. It isnt labeled as NA or EU but im using it in europe with an european router and its working just fine.

Does Netgear support download downloading firmware from third party websites? It certainly doesn't sound like an official fix - more of a leaked beta

I have had the same problem as everyone else with this extender. I was on the verge of trashing it till I read the post about the firmware. I downloaded it and installed it. I got the warning that it wasn't an NA firmware but I installed it anyway. Success. My network has been up and running with no issues for a few days now.

I have also no dropouts more since the "new firmware 1.0.1.26", downloaded from the link above. :)
Strange is well, that on the Netgear itself on the overview page it says that there is installed firmware 1.0.1.20???
I'll think that firmware 1.0.1.26 is indead a betafirmware.

But nothing to complain, it works for this moment! :)
