WN2000RPT - Internet Access Keeps Dropping
All of my devices can continually access the WN2000RPT device and access the local network as well as the internet. However, after some time, the internet connection drops for the repeater only - I can still access the local network but not the internet.
Is there a timeout or something that would cause it to lose it's connection? Seems that bouncing the repeater works, albeit temporarily.
thanks.

I still get the problem of degradation over time and eventual disconnect require a restart.
Misfet,
I think the important part of the firmware upgrade is the one applied to the 3700v2 router. That is what was said to address the wireless disconnects. Obviously, you may have a different router and hence the problem may not be solved. Hope Netgear gets you a solution soon. The disconnects were certainly frustrating.
LouB - RafalAspirantSoon we should see new firmware that resolves disconnecting issue.
I was participating in disconnecting sorting out task and apparently Netgear has found a root cause and released beta firmware that solves disconnecting issue.
I'm connected to WN2000RPT and have not encountered any internet drops since I have loaded beta firmware (24h). - MastahGSiNoviceI will be very anxious to this firmware release.
And hopefully it will be released soon.
Mine is working just as bad as all the other I read about in this thread.
I choose this one because the router I use is a Netgear as well; a 3700v2.
And because a colleague of mine recommended me the Netgear equipment.
Wireless printer isn't working properly.
I had to add a extender because my home is a new-build and apparently new homes these days are far better isolated.
Althought the router is placed in the centre of the house and is only straight-up 3 to 4 meters away from the extender.
Probably a newer iron framework is incapsulated in the concrete flooring. - ConchaAspirantIs there anyone who knows when an update to current firmware (with the connection-bug) will be released?
- ikarysAspirantI returned mine today. It actually fully failed... even a power cycle would not rectify it.
The guy at the shop said he had lots of people returning the wn2000rpt because of the same problem, and that pretty much all wn2000rpt's are faulty.
Anyway, I have replaced it with a WNR2200. It was $9 cheaper, and has a better range... and so far no bugs. - jolanda_blaauwAspirantHi all,
Just wanted to share this with you.
Like everyone of you I experienced the same problem. The WN2000RPT keeps dropping the internet access.
I bought mine last week and it happened a couple of times every day. The WN2000RPT came with firmware 1.0.1.20 so there was no update available.
Yesterday afternoon I found this firmware:

The same version that was on my WN2000RPT but I installed it anyway.
Up till now no more problems with dropping the internet.
Don't know why but I'm happy

And how can one get this beta software? I've deployed two of these units and both are disconnecting all the time. - HocusAspirantI can confirm post above - kept getting the red led of shame every couple of hours and out of desperation downloaded the firmware from Netgear website even though it was same version - V1.0.1.20 - that came with device.
Since then no problems - been running for 112 hours now according to stats.
In the UK so running non-North America version.
Don't understand why it should make any difference but it apparently has. - chingkit27Aspirantis there anyone else that can confirm that the worldwide firmware v.V1.0.1.20 really works compared to the NA counterpart?
