Hello fellow frustrated WN2000RPT owner, I have just bought one and spent 8 hours over the weekend fiddling with it, a bit like you have done really, did you ever reach the point where you successfully reached "complete" on the installation programme?
I either got "timed out" or reached the very last checkbox only to find it "greyed out" or not accepting a "click"
The extender at that point was actually working as far as I could tell, only loading a webpage just resulted in a refresh of the mywifi rubbish - and so on and on it went for hours.
Life has to be more interesting than this surely?? - someone ? - anyone ??
Its final journey is back to Amazon..............to join its friends no doubt.
