WN2000RPTv3 Invalid username after firmware upgrade

Regarding WN2000RPTv3 Extender:

Prior to firmware update, my extender had a default uid/pass of admin/password and I changed the password to something else so people couldnt hijack my extender. Then I went through the firmware update process, downloaded, installed, and am now back at the login page for setup, which this forum will not let me name properly but looks like m-y-w-i-f-i-e-x-t-.-n-e-t-/-l-o-g-i-n-.-h-t-m-l without the dashes.

But now this login page is all different. The login page now has a graphic, nicer entry boxes with nicer labels... and it wont accept my uid anymore because the username field is  now insisting on an @ symbol which I NEVER had before. Further experimentation seems to indicate it is looking for an email address as the uid, and I certainly never used that.

So... how do I login now if the new login page will not accept either my uid with changed password OR the default uid with default password? I can go back to the default uid/password by using the reset button but that uid doesnt have an @ symbol in it either so that would not help.
