WN3000RP causing lag on all devices wired/wireless when connected

If I use the wifi from the router we have no issues we all get nice low pings. turn on the extender and it literally doubles and sometimes falls off for me and the PC's ping rates double/triple. I have the extender placed in the center of the house.
any thoughts on what's causing the dirty signal?
I have the same problem and am trying to find solutions on the forum without success. Not sure what is causing it, already restarted everything and no luck. It is actually getting worse every day.
