WN3000RP Extender Password Issue
Model: WN3000RP Firmware: V1.0.2.64_1.1.86 I initially set up the extender and connecting to the router wasn't an issue. But when I went to enter the password (that should be the same as my rout...

Hello plemans ,
Thank you for the response. Yes we attempted to use WPS and just tried to use the installer assistant. The netgear page that pops up didn't load but we were still able to access the installer assistant and connect to the router. When we enter the passphrase it says our network requires a WPA2 password. I attempted to go to the mywifi internet page while on the extender but it wasn't working. Would I need a PC for this process?

It can sometimes be easier/smoother on a pc/laptop.
What route are you connecting it to?
Are you using wpa2 on the router?

plemans Could you expand on what you mean by what route and if I'm using WPA2? The router we are using is Xfinity. Our wifi says its WPA2/WPA3.

I suspect the question was "what router?"
Sadly, saying "The router we are using is Xfinity." tells us nothing useful. Xfinity must have used dozens of different routers over the years. Usually they l have a label on that tells us the make and model.
Is there also a modem in front of the router?Or is that the Xfinity thing?
WPS should work, but without knowing the details of your devices, it is hard to know why it doesn't work for you.
Earlier you said:

Hello michaelkenward thank you for the response!
The modem is: Voice and Data Modem
ARRIS GROUP, INC. TG4482A. We recently got a newer one because there was connectivity issues but Xfinity came and fixed that.
We just have a modem I believe, I'm honestly not too sure the difference between a modem and router but we are using one box connected to the coax outlet in our apartment.
The WPS worked to get the extender set up but the issue was when we tried logging in the password was said to be incorrect but we know it was typed correctly.
The netgear page I was mentioning was something that popped up when I connected to the NETGEAR_EXT. I wasn't sure if it was a blank page or it just wasn't fully loading. It was separate from mywifi but once I exited the popup I was allowed to use mywifi and set up the wifi the times that I attempted to use the netgear assistant to set it up instead of WPS.

Try disabling wpa3 on the xfinity. I've seen a lot of routers with issues on "mixed mode" (wpa2/wpa3)

Thank you for your responses plemans ! It's strange because when I go to my xfinity settings it says I have WPA2 but when I use my Macbook it tells me that I am using WPA2/WPA3 I will insert screenshots: this is what xfinity displays for 5GHz and 2.4GHz
but this is what it says on my mac
