WN3000RPv3 Download speeds slow

I just installed the WN3000RPv3 range extender. I get a great wifi signal but the download speeds are very low. In the room where the main wifi lives I get 220Mbps download speeds on my laptop. Using the extender I get 25-30. I tried moving the extender closer to the main wifi, that didn't change anything. When setting up the extender the router link LED is solid green. The Client link LED has never illuminated. I am operating in WPS mode. How do I get the client light to illuminate, in any color? Thanks

    UPDATE...

    I have tried to use the connect with Web Browser setup. The green client link light is on but I am still getting stupidly slow download speeds. Less than 20Mbps! The range extender and my laptop are in the same room as the main wifi box. Yikes!
