WN3000RPv3 Firm Ware update
I was intending to update the firmware on my WN3000RPv3 extender which is presently V1.0.2.70 to the latest which is apparently V1.0.2.100 but from the Netgear genie Firmware Update list I clicked on...

Thanks for your response. I was only trying to update the firmware but couldn't do that without being able to connect to the extender. The following items are on my network: Extender 10.0.0.38: PC windows 7 via ethernet .145, Epson printer .237, 3ea ROKU express .195,.144,.158, Amazon alexa .203, laptop .3, and iphone11 .196.

Unfortunately, it is hard to get much out of those IP incomplete addresses. Are they all identical at the front end?

Yes. They are all 10.0.0.XXX

OK. Wanted to check that we weren't in "double NAT" territory.
The default IP address for most Netgear routers is 192.168.1.1. That is why the WN3000RPv3 comes with 192.168.1.250. In your case, that wont work if the extender is connected to the Arris Surfboard, which uses 10.0.0.1 as the default.
Are you using the WN3000RPv3 in Extender mode or AP mode?
You said earlier that the extender is working. You also said:
I typed the correct address into my chrome browser and received the message "you are not connected to your extender's wifi network" I also tried what was listed as the extenders default IP address 192.168.1.250 and the response was "404 not found"
What was this "correct address"?
The manual says www.mywifiext.net. But as explained before, the other approach is to find the UP address of tour extender. This should be visible in the controls for your gateway. That is down to reading the manual for the Arris.
Or you can track down the IP address via the wifi connection to the extender.

I am using the extender in extender mode. What I meant by correct address was mywifiext. This thread won't let me add .net because it won't let me save it if it includes an internet address. I indicated previously that the IP address assigned to the extender by my gateway is 10.0.0.38. Is that what you are asking for in your last paragraph?

Strange. It worked here.
You could always use a wired connection to the WN3000RPv3 and see if you can update the firmware in that way.

A useful network tool is the desktop genie for your operating system.

At the end of the day, though, we are talking about an ancient device that is beyond the reach of some of the usual tools,

At this point I am going to admit defeat in trying to connect to and update the extender. It works so I will continue to use it with its current firmware version until it no longer functions. Thanks for your suggestions and time spent. I appreciate it very much.
