My wifi extender is only giving 4 mbps

I have a talktalk router which gives me 70mbps

 

when I had the netgear extender next to my router as a wifi extender I was still getting 4 mbps

which talktalk router? there's more than 1 and talktalk devices aren't known to play well with extenders because they sell their own.

      please just look at the label for it. it'll have a model number.
