WN802T is it dead???
Hiya guys,
Is my access point dead?
I have a WN802T, which i have had for about 6 months. I came home today to do some work in the office. The Network connection light is out, the wireless light is out. The power light is still on.
It wont respond via its Ip address, and wont let me do a factory rest nether. When i try the power light just flickers slightly ( and i mean slight ).
Any ideas be really good thanks
jon

- DutchBBQNoviceI've RMA'd my dead unit on March 13, 2008.
Today, March 27, I received a retailbox containing a brandnew WN802T serial# 1UA281LPxxxxx.
I'm curious how much time it will take before this one dies as well. - fredkAspirantMine died tonight. I bought it November 1, 2007. Serial is 1KV574L90008B.
I opened a case online. Hopefully, I'll get better service than the last time I tried to return something to Netgear (It took over 30 days). - DutchBBQNoviceMy dead unit had serial# 1KW16CL30017E.
Hopefully any unit with a serial# later than 1KWetc, such as my current one 1UAetc are not any longer faulty. I'll wait and see!
If you post about a brick, inform us about the serial# of the brick and the replacement. - OrbitalAspirantHey DutchBBQ, and fredk:
I would contact NETGEAR Support for a RMA
when you receive a RMA your replacement should have a serial number starting with: 1UA
NETGEAR SUPPORT USA: 1-888-638-4327
For other countries click: Contacting NETGEAR - DutchBBQNovice

Interesting! Do you mean that all WN802T productionseries prior to 1UA etc were faulty? Please explain!
BTW, the RMA replacement I've received has a serial# starting with 1UA. Does it mean that I've received a unit which last as intended.......many, many years? - fredkAspirantI just recieved my replacement unit. The serial starts with 1UB... The whole process or returning and receiving was fairly quick this time around.
- m3RlinNoviceI hate to sound like a Netgear basher but I stopped buying Netgear equipment at work. As a matter of fact, I banned my staff from purchasing the company's products. Harsh, right? Well, consider this: 5 Netgears dead within 12 months. Not a single 3Com or Cisco didn't died on me. Before you blame power or the administrator here's all the information:
Hardware:
4 Netgear WN802T dead
1 Netgear router dead (I don't remember the model, but it was a recent one)
Installation sites:
3 x Work (WAP)
1 x Home (WAP)
1 x Customer site (router)
I think I have one more Netgear WN802T around in the building but I'm pretty sure I'll find it soon when my users complain that wireless isn't working. It's going to die for sure. I mean with such a bad quality record I can't believe that Netgear equipment is worth investing in.
I just remembered: my Gigabit Netgear switch died at home not that long ago. Sure, it got replaced but I expect my equipment to work. Is that too much? - m3RlinNoviceHere's another link about this: http://www.m3rlin.org/wordpress/netgear-quality-gone/
