I don't think I know what you mean by that last part. Windows update wasn't doing anything while I updated the WN802T. Also, there isn't any GUI only download as far as I know.
Something that urks me though, is the fact that the WN802Tv2 uses a .tar archive file for firmware updates, which none of the routers (or other AP's?) use.
