Unfortunately the above quote has now proven to be incorrect!
The WN802Tv2 still drops the connection with the updated Atheros driver for Windows 7, though the connection drops are possibly less often than they were.
I've submitted a problem report to Netgear Support and they are looking to see if they can produce a firmware upgrade to the WN802Tv2 to avoid this problem. I'll put a final post here when Netgear Support conclude the problem report.
