WNR 3500 as Access Point
I've got just about everything working, but I still cannot access the 3500's configuration settings. I also want to know if my setup is ok.
Here's my setup:
Cable Modem ---> Netgear gs605v2 Switch ---> WNR 3500v1
I'm doing it this way to put my wireless router in a better location in the home. I have wired PC's attached to both the swtch and the WNR3500.
I followed the instructions at http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/965/~/using-wpn824,-wgr614,-or-wgt624-routers-as-an-access-point . I was really confused because it looks like there are two sets of duplicate instructions there "To Configure Your Router as an Access Point" and "To Configure the Router with Internet Access". They both say the same things.
My Questions:
1. Is this setup good? Should I be connecting a router to the cable modem instead of a switch?
2. The guide says
However, I don't know what the DHCP range of the switch is, and there doesn't appear to be a way to manage it. Any ideas?
3. I changed the WNR 3500 subnet mask to match the subnet mask of the switch. Is that necessary?
4. I can't access the configuration of the WNR 3500 via the new static IP I gave to it. I've tried going to that IP via a browser through computers connected over Ethernet and wireless. Why not?
Thanks!
