WNR2000 slow speed with Roadrunner

Please help! I've got a slow connection speed using my new NetGear N300 WNR2000100NAS router. Just hooked it up yesterday and noticed that I only have download speeds at 4-5 Mbps using the router, but have 12-14 Mbps connected straight off my Time Warner Roadrunner modem. I'm using WPA/WPA2 security (could that be the cause?). Strange thing is I notice that my Ipod Touch 4G is running at a higher speed (10-12 Mbps) than my computer. Any ideas?
