WNR2002v2 - Firmware upgrade

I can log into my wifi router from the html webpage and from the Netgear Genie app. On the app, however, when I click on the new firmware is available, click here header,  it does not recognize my password, even after I succesfully logged in using the app

Further, attempts to upgrade the FW from the  html page says invalid file, although I have downloaded it several times now and unzipped it several times as well

Kinda lost & stuck

Hoping (doubtful) the FW upgrade will resolve frequent wifi dropping or loss of connectivity to the interent
