6300v2 Router download speed issue

I currently have internet service with my cable company and pay for download speeds of 400Mbps and upload speeds of 40 Mbps.  I achieve these speeds connected directly to cable modem. Connecting remotely to my 5g network upload speeds are consistent but download speed is ~100 Mbps. Firmware is up to date (V1.0.4.24_10.0.87). Hoping someone can help, thank you.

  • Thanks, I'll keep exploring other solutions I suppose. It just bugs me to pay for a service that I can't take advantage of.

  • Wireless throughput depends widely on the wireless client, the radio band used, the distance from the access point, building structures, interferences. Impossible to answer based on the information provided.

  • Thanks. The laptop is ASUS K501 with Intel Dual Band wireless AC 7265 adapter. On 5g network from ~10 feet, my download speed is roughly 135-150 Mbps, from basement 1 floor below,  115-130 (understandably).  My son's desktop (he built, I don't know the components but he's upgrading frequently)  is hardwired to the router. On the same 5g network his download speed is around 200.  Hardwired to the cable modem he gets around 400.

Yes - however the Inhell AC 7265 (and AC 867 Mbit 2x2) should allow net data rates on 5 GHz in 40 MHz bandwidth of some 300...500 Mbit/s. Technology wise, this client and the router is a good match - similar technology supported.
