I have a Netgear N600 wireless Dual Band Router, WNDR3400v3. I am needing to stabilize my WiFi to reach 2nd floor with a solid signal even with an extender. Band 2.4GHz; channel 6. Link speed 72/72 Mbps. Does that help?

Not really.
What actual issue are you having? Saying you need to stabilize your wifi doesn't say a whole lot.
Is like a mechanic asking whats wrong with a car and the person saying "it doesn't run right". It doesn't tell us much. Details on what actual issue you're having, what you've done to try to fix it, your full setup (modem, devices connecting, etc), and anything else pertinent.
And the 2.4ghz suffers from interference more than 5ghz. if you're hitting 72mbps over 2.4ghz, you're doing amazingly well with the wndr3400
Also, size home makes a big difference and what the materials the home is made of makes a difference.
