AC 1200 shows connected but won't open web pages
I am having a terrible time with my Orbi system. It seems to work fine for the 2.4 GHz devices (security cameras and a Google home assistant), but not for the 5 GHz computers/phones. Each device sh...

what modem/gateway is the router connected to?
What firmware is on the router?
Did this just start?
Or is this a new purchase?
- mullislawMar 02, 2022TutorModem gateway IP is 184.16.192.1
Router firmware is v2.7.3.22
Not a new purchase. Bought this system last summer, seemed to work as security cameras on 2.4 functioned. I set up all other devices and they showed the connection symbol, but I didn't actually try to use them. Our cell phones are 5G unlimited data and faster than the old wifi, so we don't use wifi on our phones.- mullislawMar 02, 2022TutorGateway IP address changes, now 184.16.160.1
Acct name on Internet set up shows RBR10.
Not sure how to take screen shot of set up pages. - michaelkenwardMar 02, 2022Guru - Experienced User

Don't confuse using a 5G phone with using 5 GHz wifi.
Our cell phones are 5G unlimited data and faster than the old wifi, so we don't use wifi on our phones. On mobile phones, 5G is fifth generation. It is not 5 GHz. Very few mobile operators have rolled out 5G to any great extent. Just because your phone says 5G does not mean that you are connected to a 5G service. Most operators still rely on 4G for a lot of their network.

I understand about the cell phone 5G. I was just trying to explain why we never use the home wifi with our phones now. The T-Mobile cell service is great, unlimited data, and the 5G cell service is faster (or at least as fast) as our home wifi. Likely if we had been using the home wifi with our cell phones I would have noticed that even though the device shows the "connected" symbol it may not have been opening web pages.
Not a techie, but I understand the home wifi has two signals, one 2.4 GHz and one 5 GHz, the latter not the same as the cell service fifth generation (5G).
I connect the Orbi router to the modem. It is a DSL modem where we also plug in our home phone. Worked fine with prior Netgear N600 dual band router. I use that at my office and have no trouble connecting the laptops, ipad, etc., all the devices that will not work with the Orbi at home.
