AC 1750 R6400 / IP Configuration lost
Hello,
first of all: Because of a trip around the christmas days I had not got much time checking when I noticed the issue. And right now I am not at home. So I cannot test things or deliver further details. But I have time to write and maybe someone has got an idea.
The router is connected to the modem (192.168.0.1) via WAN-port and normally provides the local network as gateway with 192.168.1.1 with fixed IP addresses for some devices like a NAS. Everything worked fine.
But shortly before starting the trip I noticed that I had problems to reach the seldom used NAS.
That was obviously because the local network shifted to 192.168.0.1 and only DHCP. Like I said, I haven't had much time, but it seemed to me that a lot of buttons in the router settings were grey, which were not before.
The latest firmware is installed.
Any idea someone?
Thanks and merry christmas...

That smells like your modem is a modem/router. What make and model is it?
You don't tell us what the modem is or what the Mesh router is but this is probably a consequence of stringing two routers together.
Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.

It is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point (AP) with a wired connection to the main router. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit. How do I change my NETGEAR router to AP mode? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
But that has its own drawbacks:Disabled Features on the Router when set to AP Mode | Answer | NETGEAR Support
It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router.
