Ac1200
I downloaded the nighthawk app to gain access to my router..... when I get the admin login it will not take default password

What device are you using? Netgear has produced dozens of AC1200s.
AC1200 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Remember, before you can login to the device you have to connect to the wifi from your unknown router.
