I have been using a nighthawk ac1900 for a few years. The first year + it had solid range (1000 feet). Now I'm lucky if my signal goes 20 feet. I have upgraded the firmware, i have reset my modem and...

AC1900 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number.
The first year + it had solid range (1000 feet).
That is 10 times the expected range for 2.4 GHz wifi.
