AC750 extender WPS LED not lit but the extender is working

My Wifi extender is working and I didn't have any problems setting it up but it seems to me that the WPS LED should always be lit according to the manual.  My WPS indicator is not lit.  Does this mean that my connection is not secure?  Everything seems to be working fine otherwise.

    Usually indicates that currently wps isn't functioning/available to connect clients.
