Access on legacy DG834G V5
Hello, I need to reconfigure my legacy Netgear ADSL router but I cannot access it. I have connected ethernet cable from my PC to the Netgear legacy Router and by addressing 192.168.1.1 (or www.rout...

You're still connected to that (whatever it might be)? How? Why?
You don't need Internet access to configure the DG834Gv5. What you need
is a computer which is connected to the DG834Gv5. Only. What, exactly,
do you have connected to what, exactly?

Yow. Does no one around here _ever_ read the manual?
"192.168.1.1" is the usual default LAN IP address for a simple
router. For a modem+router, like the DG834Gv5, the usual default LAN IP
address is "192.168.0.1", as it says in the DG834Gv5 manuals.
But, if you start connecting these things to other routers, then all
bets are off, and you might see addresses in the "10.0.0.*" subnet.

Again, reading the relevant documentation might be helpful. For
example, look for "Restoring the Default Configuration and Password" in
the DG834Gv5 User (Reference) Manual.
---> Note: Pressing the reset button on the modem router reboots
the unit but does not restore the factory default
settings.
Perhaps the documentation is wrong, but I'd start there.

Thanks a lot for reply and comments.
Just to clairfy the environment: my PC is connected to home (fiber) router and so to internet. Legacy DG834G is switched on but not connected to any ADSL line (I have only fiber connection at home).
I was trying to pre-configure DG834G to be ready with all right parameters of ADSL connection to be used in another house.
So from your feedback I understand that my PC has not to be connected to my home router if I want to access the GUI of legacy DG834G as this should be the only way to access it with address 192.168.0.1.

parameters of ADSL connection" are? You should be able to reset the
settings to their defaults, even if you never talk to the thing. As
explained above.> So from your feedback I understand that my PC has not to be connected

way. Did you?

Still a mystery. Do you ever _answer_ questions, or do you only ask

This site can’t be reached
192.168.0.1 took too long to respond.
Try:
- Checking the connection
- Checking the proxy and the firewall
- Running Windows Network Diagnostics

My PC is connected to another fiber router for standard internet connectivity and with a cable to DG834G (as I wanted to preconfigure it to target ADSL connection in another home).

Still a mystery. Do you ever _answer_ questions, or do you only ask
more?I have my PC properly WEB connected to a fiber router (D-Link) and with a cable to DG834G (this was done in order to preconfigure DG834G for the target ADSL connection parameters of another house).

Hello,
I have not been able to pre-configure my legacy DG834G V5, as even if getting access to the GUI it's not possible to proceed with parameters tuning.
This likely because no ADSL line (ADSL carrier) connected.
So I will try to configure DG8345G V5 in its target house with proper ADSL line available and connected.
Many thanks so far for your replies and suggestions.
