Access point WNDR4500 help

You "tried" _what_, exactly, with _what_ "hardcoded"?

"try to follow" or "have no luck" is not a useful problem
description. It does not say what you did. It does not say what
happened when you did it. As usual, showing actual actions (commands)
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
Again, visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model
number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least).
Look for "access point". The details might depend on which hardware
version you have.

When you "go" _where_? You're talking about using a web browser?
What are those numbers, partial IP addresses, or what? What's the IP
address of your (unspecified) "my laptop"? And its gateway and DNS
settings?

Regarding "can't", see "not a useful problem description [...]",
above. A clear description of what _does_ happen would be more useful
than a vague description of what does _not_ (or "can't") happen.
What happens if you try to access the Internet from your
(unspecified) "my laptop"? Various possible firmware bugs might cause
problems with an automatic firmware update, even if everything else
works properly.

Does "every computer on the network" include your (unspecified) "my
laptop" (or other devices which are connected to the
WNDR4500[vX]-as-WAP)? When configured as a wireless access point, I
wouldn't bet on the WNDR4500[vX] "Internet" indicators being accurate.

_Which_ "the addresses"? Please specify complete IP addresses.

"connect" to what? Compare this statement with "every computer on
the network currently has internet access", above. At least one of us
is confused.
disable the dhcp on the wndr4500 and then assign the IP of the wndr4500 192.168.0.500 or something like that. and try it then.

advice from anyone who suggests including "500" anyplace in an IPv4
address. It's not well thought-out.- It was a suggeston since I don't know his ip parameters , he needs to see what parameters Re on his network.

I have, as I have already stated, tried this with a hardcoded address for the WNDR4500, as well as DHCP. The results are the same. I tried it with the R6250 as well, with a hardcoded address (in all of the hard coded address cases, the address was set to
0.148 and the dhcp on the netgear was set to 150-160.
The goal is to have a WAP that I can connect to with a laptop or phone, and get to the internet.
It does not seem to matter if I use DHCP on the wap to get an address, or hardcode the address. I can use the DHCP to pull an address. It assigns 192.168.0.1 as the gate way, and a dns server address 205.171.2.65 If I hard code the addres on either netgear device, and set the gateway to .01 and the dns to the 205.. address the behavior is the same.
I can connect to the wap with a laptop or phone, but it has no internet access.
