Adding a 192.168.x.x device to my 10.100.x.x network

It has the same end result. It allows you to manage the device from a central place (router), rather than having to set up a static IP in the device, as well as making sure the router doesn't hand it out to another device.
Most devices by default use DHCP (or in simple terms, get IP address automatically).
You post is a little confusing. It doesn't make sense to add the Envisalink using IP address 192.168.1.135 to subnet 10.100.10.x/255.255.255.0. The Envisalink should be using DHCP to pick up an address from the router. If you are sure that you properly reserved 10.100.10.120, then that address should be picked up by the Envisalink. You can confirm this by looking at the Attached Devices list on the router.
