Adding additional router to Nighthawk R6400

- Set the R6100 to AP Mode (Access Point Mode)
- Connect the R6100 with a cable to one of the LAN ports on the R6400
- Configure the WiFi on the R6100. Make sure to use a different channel than on the R6400 for both 2.4 & 5 GHz. You can find the IP address of the R6100 in the R6400's connected devices. I recommend reserving an IP address for the R6100 on the LAN/DHCP page on the R6400 so it always gets the same IP from the R6400. You can do this by logging in to the R6400 using a browser and http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1

microchip8 is spot on in their advice on what to do. Follow that and all should be well when it comes to getting your second router to work.
I step in only to warn you that the R6100 is an old and slow router. Your R6400 can communicate with other wired devices at 1000 Mbps. The R6100 runs at a maximum of 100 Mbps.
If your Internet speed is faster than 100 Mbps, then your R6100 will not be able to deliver that speed to other things on your network. So, for example, if you have Wi-Fi devices that can run at 300 Mbps, if they communicate through the R6100 they will slow down to 100 Mbps at best.
No problem if you ISP delivers at 100 Mbps, unless you feel frustrated by slow traffic on your local network.
