If you have 2 seperate connections, it sounds like your installers installed a new modem/router combo device and not just a modem.
What actual gateway did they install (model)?
What firmware is on the R6400?
Were you having issues with it? Reason I ask is the latest versions have been causing issues with some and if yours was working fine, it might not be worth updating.
You can always manually update.

- Thanks, I discovered after posting, a new router has been installed in a cupboard which is used for the TV cable channels too. So the netgear router is now redundant and hence why I could not find the new network in the netgear admin page. Cheers
