apps not working for AC1000

Hey first time trying this. I got a  new router, Netgear model AC1000. However I am on laptop and not android or IOS so I cannot use the Nighthawk app. I have tried several times to download the firmwear needed but it will not work or finish loading. I am using Windows 10 edge. Is there another solution or app that will work with this router? Genie is apparently outdated and aplicable to this router.

       Which "apps"?

"AC1000" is a speed, not a model number.  Look for "Model" on the
    product label.  "R6080"?

    > [...] I have tried several times to download the firmwear needed but

"tried" is not a very detailed description of what you did, and "not
working" is not a very detailed description of what happened when you
did it.  As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their actual
results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than
    vague descriptions or interpretations.

Which firmware did you try to download?

       Try Firefox?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for
"firmware", and, especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware
to the Router".  When that fails because of a deficient User Manual,
    try:

Netgear model R6080 wifi router requires the Nighhawk app. It will not work on my Laptop with windows 10 edge. I do not have ios or android so google play  or apple version of this app will not work either. Searched for an alternative for microsoft. windows 10 edge but did not find one. Do I need one? I was told to get this particular router fr faster streaming speed to cut out buffering.

Did you?  Look for "Log In to the Router".

Regarding "not work", see "tried", above.

        > Try Firefox?

           Did you?

        > [...] I do not have ios or android so google play or apple version of

Try a web browser?  Like, say, Firefox?

        > [...] Searched for an alternative for microsoft. windows 10 edge but
        > did not find one. [...]

For what, exactly, did you "search"?  How about, say, Firefox?

        > [...] Do I need one? [...]

Need one _what_?  A web browser?  I don't know.  All I know about
your experience with Edge is "not work", which tells me approximately
nothing.  See "As usual, [...]", above.

        > [...] I was told [...]

By whom?  (I'd be more careful about choosing my information
        sources.)

        > [...] to get this particular router fr faster streaming speed to cut
        > out buffering.

I know nothing about what "this particular router" is supposed to be
better than. In fact, it's about as low-end as Netgear makes, and
suffers from slow ("Fast") Ethernet ports, among other handicaps, as a
quick Web or forum search for that (actual) model number might reveal.

But I'd still expect it to be possible to use a web browser to manage
the thing, as explained in its User Manual.

This stuff is not very complicated, but, with my weak psychic powers,
I can't see what you did, or what happened when you did it, and, as
explained above, "tried" is not a very detailed description of what you
did, and "not working" is not a very detailed description of what
happened when you did it.  Without at least a little useful information,
there's very little which I can do.
