Block IP Addresses Being Used
I understand and know how to manually assign IP addresses to devices. However, is there a way to block IP address being assigned for new devices? Just for an example I want to put all my security devices etc. 192.168.1.10-20 but currently only have 6 so that would leave 16-20 open for other devices to auto assign to. When I get another security device I would want to manually assigned to 17 but that would mean the device using that address would have to be reassigned?
Is there a way to have devices (cell phones, tablets) to connect to higher IP addresses instead of assigning the lowest available IP address?
I hope my question is clear in what I am asking.
Thank you for your assistance.

Best way to get an IP address to a device an on a particular IP address would be to set a IP address reservation on the router for the device you want to get an particular IP address:

Thank you for the reply however that solution doesn't work since I wouldn't know what the MAC address would be since I haven't purchased it yet.
I would want to block a certain IP address from being used so that I could assign that certain IP address to new device in the future.

Can't be done. You'll need to get the device in and then connected, then setup the IP address reservation at the time the new device is connected.
Good Luck.
