Brand new R6400v2 drops internet connection every day

A day or so after installing my new R6400v2, the router dropped the internet.  The World icon (Internet) remained lit and blinking.  I updated firmware to V1.0.4.126_10.0.102 hoping that would resolve the condition, but no.

I'm disappointed that this Netgear was not as bullet proof as the slower Netgear WGR614v9 I used before I went to a TPLink and which failed in 3 years.

Advice before I return this R6400v2?

after the firmware update, did you ever do a factory reset?

The firmware changed quite significantly since release. Maybe an old setting is causing issues.

If that doesn't help, it should have 90 days of free support.

To get a hold of support. Click on "MyNetgear" at the top.
Register an account (or login) and then the device.
From there you can start the support process. Keep in mind that its only free for the first 90 days.

  • 1. what modem/gateway is it connected to?

    2. do all devices drop? just wired? just wireless? Details are key on this

Fyi, the r6400 was released in 2015. it might be new to you but that router is a base model gigabit device that 7 years old.

      Thx plemans

All network activity ceased on the router (wired and wireless - no connectivity to the router).  I have to power-cycle it and wait for the power & internet LEDs to go white before I can get a wired login to it.

      Modem: Motorola Arris SB6141 (surfboard)

Only 2 in my home, and the price/speed was right.  I didn't want to spend $$$ for the latest box when the R6400 would do nicely for the price point.  Still, regardless, it should be reliable out of the box?
