Buy New Router N300 WNR2000V5
I presently have a Netgear N300 Wnr2000V2 Router. I am experiencing very slow connections and Spectrum suggested replacing it with a N300 Wnr2000V4 or N300 Wnr2000V5. Are these still available and if...
I think $49 for a gigabit capable RAX35 would be way under budget 🙂 and a massive upgrade versus the WNR2000 or the R6120.
Performance on both of those is pretty anemic but the RAX35 has some pretty solid speeds. Only downfall is its a 2x2 antenna device but has 160hz wide channels. Again, still way above the other devices.

I may be showing my ignorance but I am looking for something that would give me download speed at my computer close to that of my modem, buy a new unit, local if possible, Walmart not Amazon, for no more than $100 if possible.
This unit appears to meet my needs but wanted your input.

Netgear's basic device. It falls at the first hurdle.
According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information (the details for the R6120 are wrong), the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than your internet service and most modern network hardware.
It is no better than the WNR2000V2 and, at 100 Mbps max, will throw away most of the 400 Mbps you pay for.
Look for something that says "Gigabit Ethernet" on the box or, more technical, 1000Base-T.
Thanks again Michael for your ongoing support. I thought I had met recommendations, where they stated 1.2gbps but evidently not.I will go back and do more research.
I don't remember if it was you or someone else asked me what speeds I was getting, with old modem and new modem:
Spectrum's Advertised Speed of Old Service, 200mbps, I measured over 200mbps download speed, I think 216..
Spectrum's Advertised Speed of New Service, 500mbps, I measured over 586.9mbps download speed.
As I have been told my bottleneck is the speed of the router.
Taking your reply of "Look for something that says "Gigabit Ethernet" on the box or, more technical, 1000Base-T." I guess I am confused but will look closer for these specs. In my not up to date mind I thought I found these specs, 1.2gbps.
I know this is probably too much to ask but if you would not mind could you look at the Walmart Website and see if you spot something that meets your suggestions? Ideally available at the Geneva NY store, zip 14456. If you would rather not fine and no problem.

Its gigabit and much newer technology.

So what download speeds would you estimate based on the information I provide? This is available off the shelf at my local Walmart.
