2.4ghz is a slow network. That could be roughly its speed in your area.
what speeds are you getting of 5gh?
What channel are you testing on? have you tried other channels?
What device are you testing with?

I guess the pic of my wifi settings didn't upload, another fail for Netgear. Okay, I am on channel 11 and yes I have tried other channels. I've tested it with my laptop, desktop, and cell phone each with the other devices disconnected and all get 25mbps when they are the only device. The desk is the only device with a 5gh antenna. What do you mean by that's just the speed in your area? My laptop is 3 ft away from the router and if I use an ether net cable i get 100Mbps. My question is why is the wifi slow?

2.4ghz is slow.
And it suffers from interference.
Its the whole reason for 5ghz/6ghz is the higher bandwidth they allow for more speed.
But they don't broadcast as far or through as much materials.
My old R6300 usually only hit 30-40mbps over 2.4ghz. but 5-8x faster over 5ghz.

"The Wifi connection" to _what_?

Not a very detailed description of that device.

Why blame the router for this? Does your (unspecified) "my laptop"
get higher speeds when it's connected to any other router? Blame
assignment is Job One.> [...] My other devices, [...]
Not very detailed descriptions of those devices, either.

That's 2.4GHz. That is, slow (compared with 5GHz, typically).> [...] The desk is the only device with a 5gh antenna. [...]
Does that mean that your (unspecified) "The desk" is actually
_connecting_ at 5GHz, or that you believe that it could be under some
set of circumstances, or what?> [...] What do you mean by that's just the speed in your area? [...]
I'd guess that he was worried about interference from neighbors.
Which is more common in the (longer-range) 2.5GHz band.> [...] My laptop is 3 ft away from the router [...]
If its wireless interface hardware is slow, then there's a limit to
what proximity with buy you.

Oh, I'm Guru, I'm so smart I don't have explain what I mean, just make snide comments.
Since the other day I bought a cat 6 cable for the Desktop, custom before you ask, it is now getting 220Mbps wired where it only got 25Mbps on 5Gh. So my ISP is delivering the speed i pay for.
Other devices, Xbox one, PS4, cell phones made by samsung and LG are all capable of higher speeds.
environment - i live in a single family home with nearest neighbor about 100ft away.
The wifi 2.4GH is suppoed to be good for 300Mbps down. that is the mode to which it is set in Netgear genie so stop blaming 2.4Gh
How about instead of the 20 questions you offer me a suggestion that might fix it or don't reply!

1. there's more than 1 of us trying to help you.
2. I wish that 2.4ghz would hit 300mbps. Its a slow network. Older devices like the C6250 are even worse than the newer devices. In my experience, on a decent laptop/phone/pc and this router, its good for around 20-40mbps.
