can someone just confirm this should work to display the default USB storage icon only

My USB storage attached to my R6050 displays 2 icons on my win7 box.  one is the default"readyshare" and the other is "WD" which I created. Since I just want one only to display I should be able to unplug the USB storage reset the router to factory settings wait a moment or two plug the storage back in, reboot my system and it should only display the default 'readyshare"

I did this yeaterday but I suspect I simply did not wait long enough and or reboot my system.

The manual, the forums here and the internet in general did not provide a clear answer so i really am thinking I was trying(yet again) to make things more difficult then need be.

thanks in advance for any helpful replies...

  • Many thanks to Dexter for the response to my question, to follow up then....

Due to a lack of response before Dexters reply I just unplugged the attached storage, reset the router to factory settings and reattached the storage.   While I did end up with 2 icons in my win7 box(R6050 & ReadyShare) I just reset my back up software to write to the ReadyShare.  Confirmed that the backup software was functioning ok.

    again my thanks to Dexter

    Hi poofybunhead,

    1. Are you referring to the links on Windows explorer?

    2. You can just remove the drive that you have mapped (WD) since they may point to the same drive.
