Can the wifi be shut down and just use hardwired?
I have laid hardwire to all locations I use ethernet. Is there a way to turn off the wifi transmission?

When trying to match "a Manual" with "reality", it helps to look at
the right part of reality. Reality is a big place, with many parts.
Can you tell when you're trying to match two different things?> The picture in the manual does not correspond to what I am seeing on

screen. Read it again, more carefully:

_Which_ "the Advanced Wireless screen"? See above (again).

Yes. That's how I could tell that you were on the wrong page. (And
exactly which wrong page you were on.)

count poor user-interface design as a firmware problem, and I would not
expect an update to solve that.)

Here's a radical concept which works for some people:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "Advanced
Wireless Settings" and "Enable Wireless Router Radio".

Perhaps there is someone that is not a total insufferable Jerk as this guy is. I looked at the manual and the option displayed in the PDF manual is not available on my display. Perhaps I just need to purchase a switch.

your "I looked at the manual".The following two action chains are different:
What you did:
ADVANCED > Setup > Wireless Setup
What the User Manual says:
ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless SettingsI'll admit that "RTFM" does not always work well for people who don't
read well. You have my permission to complain to Netgear about the way they
organized these headings.

> I'll bite. To do what, exactly?Oh. I get it. You want to replace a router (WNDR3400v3) with a
_network_ switch? "router" and "switch" are spelled differently for a
reason. Generally, if you have typical residential Internet service,
you'd need a (NAT) router in order to connect multiple client devices to
the Internet. A network switch lacks the requisite NAT functionality.
