Can the wifi be shut down and just use hardwired?

I have laid hardwire to all locations I use ethernet. Is there a way to turn off the wifi transmission?

I don't recall saying anything like that.  But it's clear that you
    haven't "handled it" so far.

When trying to match "a Manual" with "reality", it helps to look at
the right part of reality.  Reality is a big place, with many parts.
Can you tell when you're trying to match two different things?

Exactly.  That's because you're looking at the wrong page on your
screen.  Read it again, more carefully:

(The Manual actually says "Advanced > Advanced Setup > Wireless
    Settings", but "ADVANCED" is correct.)

_Which_ "the Advanced Wireless screen"?  See above (again).

Yes.  That's how I could tell that you were on the wrong page.  (And
exactly which wrong page you were on.)

I agree.  It's a user error, not a firmware problem.  (Unless you
count poor user-interface design as a firmware problem, and I would not
expect an update to solve that.)
