Can't connect to internet with the router, even when the LED is on.
as far as i'm aware, I've tried everything. Overnight my router stopped providing internet to my devices. Wired or not, no connection. Restarted the modem, restarted the router, pulled all the cables...

That is a cable modem-router. You can tell by the number of LAN ports on the back. >1 = router.
So you have two routers trying to allocate addresses and manage the traffic of devices that you connect to your network.
If you cannot put it into bridge mode, then you could try putting your WNDR3700v5 Netgear router into access point mode. This will disable its router features.

Be warned that in AP mode, the WNDR3700v5 will lose some features.

The modem is from Ziggo, a dutch ISP. Their modems are called "connect boxes". The following link is to a site which provides more information. Note that this is a dutch site. Hopefully, with the help of the translate function on Chrome, you will be able to read most of it.

I've also found out that my modem is most certainly NOT in bridge mode. This can only be done via the ISP's service, and things such as wifi won't work anymore. This is not the case.

Putting it in Wireless access point (AP) mode worked. It functions... that's it. For now, I don't mind the loss of those features. Maybe some time in the future will i be able to reinstate it to where it was. But for now, I've got other things to worry on. I thank you for your time, effort, and patience to help me. If, for some reason, i need your help again, you'll hear from me.
Thank you.

Glad that worked out.
If you ever want to revive those features, I suspect that you could put your cable modem-router into "bridge" mode. You just need to find the right place for it in the settings and the right description. The people who make these things use different terms to describe features.
- Wytze01Mar 25, 2018AspirantIt doesn't work like that with this cable-modem, unfortunately. It's a big downside, almost everything has to go through the ISPs service (as in customer service)
Also, there is a modem + router to make sure there is wifi across the whole house. I don't think bridge mode will ever be a solution, but i'll remember it as a plan B. - michaelkenwardMar 25, 2018Guru - Experienced User
Maybe a third party cable modem would work. Netgear makes them, so do other companies.
I hate it when ISPs insist on dumping their hardware in users. BT does the same thing in the UK. It also has a modem/router that will not go into modem only mode.
Fortunately, it is DSL and we can use better hardware if we are prepared to pay for it.
- Wytze01Mar 25, 2018AspirantI've never thought about that, I will look into it. Again, thanks for all your tips. I, and many more, appreciate your help.
