Can't create folder on readyshare drive with Windows Explorer
I've had this external drive hooked to my wndr3400v2 router for 3 or 4 years and never had an issue. Now all of a sudden I can't create a folder on it. It tells me Destination Folder Access Denied, You Need Permission to Perform This Action. I looked in the router settings for the USB drive and there are no passwords set and access is for all. I tried to change the permissions in Windows but it won't let me do that. I disconnected the mapped drive and mapped it again but get the same issues. I don't know if this is a windows issue, a router issue or an issue with the usb drive. There is a lot of data on the drive but there's still 127GB free so I don't think that has anything to do with the issue. I'm running Windows 10 and the router is at Firmware Version V1.0.0.52_1.0.81. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
- Hello,
Have you tried using a different computer? Yes and I get the same error.
You mentioned that you tried changing the permission on Windows, what permission is this? Right click on the drive letter, go to the security tab, hit the advanced button, click on the user and select full control. But it won't allow me to do that.
Will you be able to create a new folder on your local computer? Yes I can do anything I want on the local PC, just not on the mapped drive.
Is creating a folder on ReadySHARE worked before? Yes I've been using it for 3 or 4 years as a backup/extra storage.
Thank you very much for the reply. I figured this out yesterday. I unplugged power to the external drive and plugged it back in a few seconds later and like magic everything works right now.
